To warm up this winter, wouldn’t you like to host a cocktail party? Nothing’s cozier than mugs of piping hot boozy hot chocolate and mulled wine when it’s cold outside.

When it comes to holiday parties, my approach is always simple and relaxed. A casual get-together that doesn’t take a lot of time to pull together makes your pals feel totally comfortable. Here are 4 easy steps to pull it all together.

1. For this winter-themed cocktail party, choose a signature drink. I like the ones in the book Winter Cocktails. The Classic Hot Chocolate with creme de cassis and the English Christmas Punch look especially delicious.

2. Bust out your fancy glassware – because, if your guest list is small and intimate, why not? I love the Numerals Barware from Anthropologie.

3. Serve simple snacks. Cheese and crackers on a classy board like this one is so easy to pull together. Or put out a selection of salty snacks, such as nuts, olives and kettle chips.

4. Set the mood with pretty starry string lights. I like these ones from Restoration Hardware.
